Hello everyone,
The problem I always see – or rather fear – with the conventional method of archiving negatives (sliding them in and out of standard sleeves) is the risk of scratches. I haven’t had any major disasters yet, but with the resurgence of the joy of developing my own film and the resulting increase in film throughput, I’m starting to wonder whether there might be alternatives, and what they might be. Unfortunately, I can’t find any in our host’s webshop, so I’m asking the group – if you do it differently, how do you do it?
Best regards,
Nils

I use glassine sleeves; nothing has been scratched so far.

Good night,
So, I use glassine sleeves. I position the films so that the longer end is at the bottom, and once the film is loosely tucked in, I press it gently so that it curves slightly, ensuring the coated side doesn’t touch the sleeve. Then I slide it all the way in, so that only a small section of the backing touches the sleeve. If there are any scratches there, Repolisan isn’t available anymore, but something similar is sold in the US, just in case things go completely wrong – though I haven’t had that happen yet.

Sorry to have to keep you from falling asleep again,
?
Why on earth are people so scared of scratches???!!!!
?
I’ve recently discovered Revelog films; you pay between 6 and 9 euros or thereabouts just because the film is already scratched before you even start filming.
And apparently they’re selling like hot cakes.

But now it’s lights out for good and time to sleep, Achim
