In my experience,
even with the same density, you need extension factors if you want to expose the paper correctly for the shadows. Higher gradients
cause the paper’s ‘Dmax’
to be reached much sooner at the same density/light intensity, and so – depending on the paper – the exposure time must be shorter.

Regarding the filters: I would simply start working with them. In practice, you’ll soon realise whether they still work.
