What particular advantage does this original Rodinal actually still offer, given that Adonal is available as part of the same range – a more modern version of Rodinal which, as far as I know, has a longer shelf life and produces finer grain results, whilst otherwise functioning in exactly the same way?
It has always been cheaper.
However, as the days of mass production are over, this advantage is now fading, because the costs of manual bottling are rising in comparison to the ‘solution’ itself, and unfortunately these costs are the same for both products.
We’re still doing the maths, but if APH09 is only 20 cents cheaper than ADONAL, then nobody will buy it anymore.
So the answer is: yes and no. We might switch APH09 to 1-litre bottles.
