Silvermax developer for third-party films

The technical information for the Silvermax developer (www.adox.de/Technical_Informations/TA_SILVERMX_ENTWICKLER.pdf) also lists dilutions and development times for other films. The list appears to be a work in progress and is still incomplete. I would be particularly interested in the specifications for Ilford Delta 100 and 400. Has anyone on the forum already tested these film-developer combinations? € Regards € tepe € €

Exposure times for the older APX 100 might also be worth looking into, as the two films are said to be quite similar. Perhaps there are still some untapped potential to be found in the last batches from Leverkusen... it would certainly be worth a try.

People always make far too much of the choice of film and developer combination. You’re hardly going to notice any difference anyway. But I don’t want to spoil your fun with the alchemy :spudnikheadstand: (Goodness me, what sort of potato emojis are there here?)

It is true that one can hardly expect sensationally superior results. However, the packaging – including small quantities for four to six films – is appealing for periods of low throughput. There are alternatives, such as (Baby-)Adonal and Neofin; however, these accentuate not only the sharpness of contours but also the grain, which is why I avoid them for higher-sensitivity films. The criterion is therefore: does the Silvermax developer perform on a par with D-76/ID-11 in terms of overall quality and range of use when used with third-party films? If so, it would be a superior alternative to the aforementioned standard powder developer in terms of ease of use and thus a purchase recommendation for me. Perhaps others already have an answer to this question (and possibly even for my current films of choice, Delta 100 and 400). tepe

Last week I developed some old APX/Retro 100 (subjected to the rated exposure) according to the specifications in the data sheet – it turned out perfectly.
