Urnes Hi Mirko, I realise that there wasn’t room for instructions on the tiny label on the Adofix canister. :) Same times and concentrations as for Ilford Hypam? 1:4 for film (Delta 100/400) 3 minutes with a fresh batch? 1:9 for paper 2 minutes with a fresh batch? Regards, Sven.
TiMo Hi Sven, Have a look here: € http://www.adox.de/ADOX_Chemie/Chemie/Adofix/Adofix.html € I always use a 1:4 dilution for both paper and film. € Cheers, Tim
Urnes Hi Tim, That’s exactly what I was looking for. Thanks. @Mirko– a link from the shop, or at least from the Impex Chemicals page, would have been helpful. Regards, Sven.
Gast Hi Sven, Have a look here: € http://www.adox.de/ADOX_Chemie/Chemie/Adofix/Adofix.html The link no longer works and there are no instructions to be found on the ADOX website. € With film, you can check the clearing time to determine the fixing time. Are there any recommended fixing times for paper when using ADOX Adofix Plus liquid?
MirkoBoeddecker All express fixers have the same processing times. They differ in terms of capacity and durability. The very low-cost products (ECO, Budget, etc.) often have a lower capacity and a less sophisticated balancing mechanism in the buffer system. The very high-quality ones (and Adofix Plus is one of them) have two- and three-stage buffers where the respective undesirable by-products are captured and absorbed, and the resulting secondary by-products are in turn captured. This increases service life and oxidation protection. Adofix P, on the other hand, is a very simple formulation; here, the shelf life comes from the powder concentrate, but technically speaking, the solution is inferior to the Plus version. So much for the differences. The fixing times, however, are similar, and since paper must be over-fixed for a very long time before the first silver is dissolved, the simplified specification of a fixing time of 2 minutes for paper and 4–5 minutes for film can be regarded as uncritical.
