Hi everyone, ? I’m making my own emulsions using the tutorials from Denise Ross’s *The Lightfarm*. I’m currently still using glass plates as a base. I’d also like to make my own film. In the US, there are many suppliers of Dura Lar for wet media. It’s a plastic material without the drawbacks of acetate. It’s manufactured by Grafix. Unfortunately, I can’t buy the material here in Europe; instead, I have to order it from the US or the UK. ? I hope that forum members can recommend a European supplier, or perhaps it would be an idea for Mirko Büddecker to offer it via FOTOIMPEX. ? I look forward to your replies. ? Henk

Hi Henk, I don’t know of any suppliers, but for 35mm film, Leaderfilm might be an option. But the real reason I’m replying is that I’m actually very interested in the topic of making your own emulsions myself. Even though I don’t want to—and can’t—get involved in it practically at the moment, I still find it fascinating, and perhaps when I retire, before I let my relatives turn me into a slave. I’ve found a few pages on the internet about Lightfarm – one doesn’t work, another is quite detailed, but I can only find recipes for copy paper. Is there any more information available, such as a book? The website doesn’t mention Denise Ross at all. It would be great if you could tell us more about it – if there’s a book, the ISBN number, and how fast these emulsions are. Regards, Achim

Hello, € Thanks for the replies, I’ll give the leader film a go. € And Achim, making your own emulsions is a wonderful challenge; it actually takes quite a bit of time, but it’s not expensive and you get results fairly quickly, especially with paper for contact prints.
