Hopefully not for much longer. And then we’ll soon have a proper ADOX 400
?
As mentioned above, we wouldn’t be able to produce the film at this price point. Put more broadly, this means that, given current market prices, we generally cannot produce a ‘competitive, standard’ 100 or 400 film.
When we launched the 400 project, there were quite a few interested parties, some with very large volumes, and the competitive landscape was different. Due to the lengthy teething problems, the partners gradually dropped out. On top of that, high-quality but borderline cheap 100 and 400 films suddenly appeared on the market. It would be mischievous to suspect a tactical ploy behind this ;-)
As long as these films remain on the market under these conditions, all other manufacturers will be blocked. Any attempt to enter the market will result in a massive loss of capital.
?
Quite apart from that, the closure of Fotokemika has now created sufficient opportunities for us to explore.
We therefore had to reorient ourselves (at least temporarily) and realign our priorities. The new CHS100 II, for example, stands out from a ‘normal’ 100-speed film thanks to its sensitisation, the AHU and the clear base. We see this as an opportunity, as it is something special, and hope to be able to achieve the price we need to cover our costs.?
