Opinions may be divided when it comes to Lomo, or rather the company behind the brand name today. But this product certainly sounds interesting:

Ready for the latest Lomographic film sensation? We’re absolutely chuffed to bits to introduce you to our latest film – the LomoChrome Purple. A fantastic colour negative film that delivers infrared results!

Now you’re probably thinking: wasn’t Aerochrome production discontinued?; Well, as you can see, LomoChrome Purple (35mm and 120) delivers fabulous results just like colour infrared films. The great thing, however, is that it’s actually a normal colour negative film that produces infrared results without you needing any additional filters. This clever film produces these breathtaking photos completely naturally.
I’m curious to know what’s really behind it. The results on the linked page look promising, but is the film actually infrared-sensitive, or has something been changed in the layer sequence and/or the sensitising dyes, resulting in a sort of false-colour image without actual infrared sensitivity?
Perhaps someone knows more or at least has some ideas on the matter. If the retailer adds this film to their range, I’ll probably treat myself to a few rolls – it certainly looks interesting, and one can only be glad of any ‘innovation’, however small. Even if you don’t think much of it, because every bit of demand keeps the analogue market alive.
