Hello everyone,
Since I ran out of my Agfa wetting agent and switched to Adoflo, I’ve been having a problem with the film drying.
Here’s what I’ve been doing so far:
After the final rinse, I soak the film for 1–1.5 minutes in water mixed with Adoflo diluted with a capful.
Then I hang the film up. Previously, this resulted in a flawless negative strip.
Recently, however, the result has been drying streaks running along the film.
See the image for the result.
Rewashing with a double dose of Adoflo brought no improvement. I ended up with different streaks. At least they can be washed off.
Do others have this problem too? Am I using too high a dose?
One capful is 5.5ml. My film tins hold between 300ml and 500ml (approx. 1:54 or 1:90).
Our water values are: pH 8 and total hardness 8?
Best regards
Guido

I use Mirasol by Tetenal and add two or three drops of wetting agent to 500 ml of water (I bought a pipette bottle from the chemist’s) and haven’t had any problems with streaks since.

If there are spots and streaks, the concentration was clearly too high. Try a 1:200 ratio.

I use Adostab and prepare it according to the instructions. But then I strip the film at the end. Because of the toxicity, I wear nitrile gloves, and they never scratch the film. My films are always free of streaks and spots. Nitrile gloves work very well for stripping film.

I don’t want to be a prophet of doom. But anyone who can read has a clear advantage:
?
Dilution for films/papers: 1+400 to 1+700.?
Dilution as a glossing agent for baryta papers: 1+40.?
0.25 litres of concentrate?
?
That’s what it says on the shop page, and the bottle should at least have the 1+400 marking on it.?
?
?
I always use it at a dilution of 1 ml (i.e. one pipette fill) to approx. 500 ml – within that range, you don’t need to measure quite so precisely. That should do the job.?
?
Regards, Sven. (..and no hard feelings)

Or, to put it another way: buy a salad spinner, place the film roll inside after the Stabi bath along with a counterweight, give it a good spin, and the film is ‘stripped’ without coming into contact with it.

Hello everyone,
I’ve ‘washed’ two more films. Three drops this time (I tried to get the minimum amount).
The streaks have now disappeared.
Best regards,
