Don’t you lose quite a bit of Dmax if you don’t develop the film fully? Or should you then compensate for the shorter development time (as with film) by using a longer exposure?
You do need to develop fully. But if you extend the development time from 2 to, say, 5 minutes (just before fog sets in), that does make a difference.
FG baryta papers don’t stop development as abruptly as today’s multigrade PE papers. So ‘developing to the end’ is relative. However, the exposure time should be five times the image exposure time to ensure properly deep shadows.
