Tetenal is set to implement a significant price increase. We have seen the new prices, and you won’t like the consequences. It is well known that the prices of raw materials for developing chemicals have risen disproportionately over the last three years. Among other things, there is now a monopoly on certain raw materials (e.g. photographic-grade hydroquinone). However, the price increases that have now come to light will have a very noticeable impact on retail prices. For some items (e.g. Eukobrom), this amounts to almost a doubling of the price. Some other manufacturers have already felt compelled to implement significant increases, whilst others have not. This may well depend on the stock levels of certain raw materials held by the respective producers. As one of the largest, Tetenal certainly has a higher throughput than smaller competitors. If I were to say that a price increase is not necessarily negative, as it also demonstrates that the manufacturer in question has decided to make a profit from its product range and will therefore have an interest in continuing production (as opposed to defiantly ceasing production), this would certainly not be met with unanimous approval; however, this statement should at least be worth a thought to everyone. Hello Achim, When it comes to our own products, we are inevitably forced to keep quite large stocks, as the order quantities required to achieve a viable price are often quite high for our relatively small-scale production. Normally, this works against us (capital tied up ==> interest burden). In a case like this, however, it seems to be working in our favour. We usually only raise prices when we have to, i.e. when we have no choice but to buy new supplies at a higher cost ourselves. For Neutol NE, based on current demand, we have all critical raw materials in stock until the end of the year. However, should there be any shifts in demand now, it won’t last that long. It also depends on the formulation, though. Adotol WA, for example, contains two components whose prices have skyrocketed for us. I’ll certainly have to recalculate the costs in a few months’ time. WA will then become more expensive than NE. But NE will certainly not double in price. Best regards, Mirko

No, all prices have been increased, but the impact on developers is particularly noticeable in some cases. Colour chemicals, for example, are in line with the usual inflation adjustment. Best regards, Mirko
