Hello everyone, Here’s a film recommendation for those long winter evenings. I’ve unearthed a DVD on eBay called *Orwo: The Story of a Film Factory*. You can also buy it directly from the manufacturer, UAP Film. It’s quite entertaining if you’re interested in the ins and outs of photography. Happy New Year, Achim

I just wanted to say thanks again for the tip. I’m always interested in things like that. It’s quite astonishing how quickly such things are forgotten, as if, with the introduction of digital technology into photography, everything that had been developed up to that point suddenly no longer mattered. It’s a phenomenon I’ve observed in many places, and one which, I fear, is bound to come back to haunt us in time. People’s lack of knowledge and lack of interest in the development of our current standards are pretty much the opposite of what you’d call a ‘responsible citizen’.

Right, now I want a Practica/Pentacon. A very interesting and tragic story. And it’s great to see what people achieved back then. Subject: The Filmfabrik in Wolfen: I can highly recommend a visit to the film museum in Wolfen: € http://www.ifm-wolfen.de/ € You get an excellent insight into the history of the factory and film production. All the key stages of production are explained using the original machinery (some of which is still in working order and is demonstrated during the guided tours). I’ve been there twice already and was very impressed. You should definitely go on a guided tour (which can be booked by phone or email). € Best regards, Henning
