Our fineartforum 2012 is over – a brief summary.
Personally, I found our fineartforum 2012 to be a very intense event.
There were plenty of (technical) discussions centred on the topic of analogue black and white photography.
We were also encouraged by a number of visitors to maintain our focus on the philosophical and media studies aspects of photography.
This blend of practical photography and fundamental, core themes is probably unique. We will continue to pursue this concept.
It was important to me that we held a separate session to discuss the future organisation of the fineartforum.
There were some objections to the name “fineartforum”: the name was said to be too elitist and rather off-putting for new (young) visitors.
I can, in principle, understand this line of argument.
Nevertheless, I would still like to retain the name – for the following reasons:
1. We wish to make a conscious reference to the fineartforums in Braunfels and see a sense of continuity.
2. Indeed, we are committed to high quality in every respect. However, not as an elitist event but as a kind of “role model”. Anyone who has ever visited our fineartforum will be able to confirm its friendly and informal atmosphere. We want to facilitate contact between experts and seasoned practitioners and those just starting out.
Our doors will remain wide open to anyone with an interest in analogue photography – with absolutely no barriers to entry.
We will do everything we can to help young photographers and beginners overcome any initial reservations. This group can truly benefit the most from our fineartforum.
Planning for our fineartforum 2013 is already underway (2–3 November 2013).
We would be very grateful for any requests, new ideas or feedback!
Our fineartforum website
