Hello,
I’m looking for a suitable equalising developer for panoramic photography (Horizon 202). Diafine seems to be a ‘foolproof’ solution that costs next to nothing. But it doesn’t necessarily have to be cheap – the negatives need to produce good prints. I suspect MZB is better suited to this. Does anyone have experience with both chemicals? My standard film is Tmax400 developed in Xtol 1:1.
Thanks in advance for your replies, Matthias

Among the standard two-stage developers available on the market, Tetenal Emofin is also worth mentioning. My experience is based on Diafine and Emofin, which I would rate as equivalent in terms of results. Both really come into their own with the highly sensitive classic Tri-X-Pan, where the pronounced contrast-balancing capability is complemented by a significant increase in sensitivity. In my opinion, Tri-X should be set to 1000 ISO in both developers. This combination is therefore ideal for available-light and action photography; whereas in architectural and landscape photography, one is more likely to opt for low- to medium-speed films. APX 100 achieves 200 ISO in Diafine – whilst maintaining good shadow detail and without clipping in the highlights. The new Silvermax, which carries the DNA of the APX 100, is expected to deliver similar results.
