Hello,
I’m now the proud owner of a Flexaret, complete with a set for 35mm film. The English instruction manual I found online at least helped me ensure that nothing went wrong when loading the film. However, the film counter doesn’t seem to realise that a 35mm roll holds more than the 12 exposures of a 120 roll. It doesn’t reset to 1 as explained in the manual, but instead displays a red dot. Now I can only advance the film; the shutter release remains stuck.
Needless to say, I’m not happy about wasting the rest of the film. And buying only 12-exposure film rolls is a bit of a faff.
What did I do wrong? How can I persuade the Flexaret to let me take more shots?
Thanks in advance.
Jens

...there should be another dial to the left of the film counter window. After the first twelve exposures, you should turn this dial back to "1" – the counter should then start again at "1". After the next 12 exposures, turn this knob again... It could be that you might need to set this knob to "1" straight away when using 35mm film... As I don’t own the 35mm adapter, I can’t say for sure – you’ll just have to give it a go. In any case, the solution to your problem is linked to this knob...

Hi Jens,
A few days ago, I saw a Flexaret 6x9 twin-lens camera listed on eBay, so I had a look around and came across a website called www.hmw-foto.at
There was a lot of information about the Flexaret there; I’m not sure if there’s anything suitable for you, but once I realised it was a 6x6, I stopped reading.
Best regards, Achim

Yes, I’ve seen that second dial and read about how it works, but it stops at twelve and won’t go any further. Maybe there’s something wrong with the mechanism :-/ In any case, it’s really hard to turn at all.
Thanks for your tips so far.

That’s not a ‘counter’! You need to turn it manually as shown in image 12. Then the normal counter will reset to 1 and you can perform exposure on the next 12 frames. You do this a total of three times. The other ‘counter’ (which isn’t really one) will show a 3 at the end. I haven’t held one in my hands for a long time. But that should do the trick.
Regards, Sven.
