Hello,
I’ve just bought a Kiev 60, manufactured in 1992, and I’ve already run into a small problem. I loaded the film according to the instructions and took three shots. The pictures are all great, but unfortunately there are only 10 of them. They’re all spaced evenly, but each is over 2 cm apart.
Thanks for your help,
Steffen

A 2 cm gap is too wide; something’s wrong with the adjustment here. The standard is 2–3 mm, and you’ll then get 13 images on the film.

I think I’ve found the problem. I wound the first section by hand and only then inserted the reel. I then fiddled with the reel using my finger until the mark was in the right place. It’s just a guess; I haven’t put the film back in yet. I’ll let you know. Thanks anyway.

Hi Steffen,
Glad you found the error. I haven’t got a clue about these things either.
In case it happens again, I came across this while browsing the web a while back:

I hope the link still works.

I don’t know what that was or why only half of it came through,
so I’ll type it out again slowly.

Everything was still there when I typed it yesterday.

Hello,
I tried again today; the gaps are smaller, but I still can’t fit 12 frames on there. So I just loaded the film with the backing paper and didn’t advance it quite all the way to the mark, closed the lid and advanced it through to frame 12, opened the lid and lo and behold, the 12 is centred. I just need to take the film thickness into account. That should just about do it. Luckily, I’ve still got a 10-pack of SHD 100 to use up.
But I’ve already got the next problem. The long shutter speeds are running too fast. Half a second is about a 30th. From 60ths onwards, it works again. I’ve seen the instructions on the Kievaholics site, but I don’t really dare give it a go yet. But I did it with the 88 in the end.
Somehow, everything’s going the wrong way round with the K 60. With all the overlaps, the images are overlapping; I’ve got too much space. For others, the exposure times are even longer than they should be; for mine, they’re shorter.
But it’s not going in the bin. (Just to pre-empt any forum posts)

Hello,
I’ve now sent the camera off. I hope everything goes well. They seem quite knowledgeable on the phone. http://www.kameraservice-ostkreuz.de/

Hello,
Just wanted to let you know what happened with the camera.
The transport mechanism had to be replaced. Now I can get 13 shots on the film. Personally, I have absolutely no complaints about the workshop in Berlin; Mr Prügel, in particular, still has spare parts for my beloved Soviet girlfriend :spudnikhattip: and nobody works for free anyway.
Just as an aside: just before Christmas, I bought a complete set of Zenit 12 Snaiper equipment, including a second lens, a TAIR 300mm, filters, a shoulder rest, etc. And the best thing is, the whole set is brand new. Built in 1986. I’m going to pop round to the police station in town with it. :spudnikcry:
