Please don’t panic about Kodak’s bankruptcy. This was a ‘necessary’ bankruptcy to liquidate patent portfolios that could no longer have been sold off otherwise. We expected this. Let’s hope they seize this opportunity and restructure as planned. Well, hopefully this isn’t a trial run for the Portra successor ;-) The question remains, though: can Kodak produce in such small quantities that it will suit the analogue market in the future? I’m actually quite optimistic overall, but those big machines aren’t exactly making things any easier in the long run, are they? Best wishes, Thomas

This morning on my way to work, I read in the newspaper that Jim Rakete is mourning the loss of Kodak; he says its bankruptcy is more than just the loss of a technology. The films had a defining influence on style; he misses TRI-X as much as he misses his mother’s potato recipe. It’s certainly true that those declared dead live on. Regards, Acim
